Retouch began in 2011 with the vision to help those most in need, in the most difficult places. This brought us to the rural village of Birikani, Kenya where children were suffering from sever malnutrition and sitting on rocks in a one-room mud hut for school. These children were desperate for education, and there was no one who could provide it. Through a generous donation from a village elder, Retouch was given 12 acres of land and the Good Samaritan school and church were born. Today, the school educates over 350 students, providing them with 2 hot meals a day, uniforms, school books, free education and Christian discipleship. That tiny mud hut has now expanded to 6 permanent buildings including a Primary School, Secondary School, Laboratories, Offices & the Church. The church has over 150 members and continues to grow weekly.
As the students graduate, Retouch provides them an opportunity for higher education through the Girls Empowerment Program. Here they receive a degree in their chosen course of study, or an opportunity to learn a trade craft. While still in its pilot stage, this program has already proven incredible results.
